3 Ways to BE A FRIEND this Holiday Season

'Tis the season for giving and gratitude. The holidays remind us of all the reasons we have to be grateful. For our youth, the holidays can be especially challenging - some are unable to be with family, some don't know where their next meal will come from, some are looking for a safe place to rest their head.

The recent COVID-19 pandemc has only made the holidays more difficult for youth. They are disproportionately impacted by the economic downturn and closing of businesses and public spaces. Through it all, Friends of Youth has remained open and accessible for youth to receive a meal, talk with a friend and have their basic needs met.

Through it all they want to be part of the season with the opportunity to gather with friends, or even receive a thoughtful gift. We've put together a Friends of Youth Giving Guide of great opportunities. Take a look and see how you can help.

1. The Gift of Giving- It's the time of year when we celebrate the season in the comfort of our home. Many of the youth we serve don't have that comfort, safety, or security. At Friends of Youth, we are committed to making sure every single young person in our community has a home. Your gift makes it possible for youth to have a home address this holiday season, a place where the light is on, and a warm welcome awaits. Donate Now and Thank you!

2. Amazon - Shopping online? Why not give AmazonSmile a try. Use the Friends of Youth Link to access amazon.com, and when you check out, a percentage of all of your purchases will then be donated.

You can also check out our Amazon WishLists for items that are requested year-round

A few hints for our Amazon wish lists:

  • You must be signed in to your Amazon account.

  • Start with an empty shopping cart.

  • Change the shipping address to Friends of Youth 13116 NE 132nd Street, Kirkland WA 98034

3. Hosting a Virtual Gift Drive - Virtually organize a drive to collect items like:

  • New underwear for youth (men and women)

  • New hats and gloves

  • Coats

  • Pre-paid phone cards
