4 Ways to be A Champion of Hope this Holiday Season

Plus one non-holiday event to add to your calendar.

'Tis the season for giving and gratitude. The holidays remind us of all the reasons we have to be grateful. For our youth, the holidays can be especially challenging - some are unable to be with family, some don't know where their next meal will come from, some are looking for a safe place to rest their head.

Through it all they want to be part of the season with the opportunity to gather with friends, or even receive a thoughtful gift. We've put together a Friends of Youth Giving Guide of great opportunities. Take a look and see how you can help.

GivingTreeTags

1. Giving Tree (through December 9)- Take a tag from one of our Giving Tree sites, buy a gift, and return it unwrapped to the Giving Tree site where you picked up the tag or back to our Kirkland Youth Service Center at 13116 NE 132nd Street, Kirkland. Our Giving Tree sites are located at Redmond Town Center, University Village in Seattle and at our Kirkland Youth Service Center. Gift drop-off dates are determined by each site.

2. The Gift of Giving- It's the time of year when we celebrate the season in the comfort of our home. Many of the youth we serve don't have that comfort, safety, or security. At Friends of Youth we are committed to making sure every single young person in our community has a home. Your gift to our Homes for the Holidays campaign makes it possible for youth to have a home address this holiday season, a place where the light is on, and a warm welcome awaits. Donate Now and Thank you!

3. AmazonSmile - Shopping online? Why not give AmazonSmile a try. Use the Friends of Youth Link to access amazon.com. Then, a percentage of all of your purchases will be donated to Friends of Youth. You can also check out our Amazon WishLists for items that are requested year-round.

4. Hosting a Holiday Party? Host a Drive - Ask party guests to bring a donation to your festivities. Here are some ideas:

  • Gift cards to grocery stores or Target/Fred Meyer & gas stations

  • New underwear for youth (men and women)

  • New hats and gloves

  • Coats

  • Pre-paid phone cards

  • Sheet sets or fleece blankets

Donations can be dropped off at our Kirkland Youth Service Center, 13116 NE 132nd Street, Kirkland, 98034

Save the Date - Our Annual Celebration of Youth Luncheon is Friday, March 6, 2020 at the Bellevue Hyatt. Hear inspiring stories, hear what's new and learn how your support transforms lives. Mark your calendar today, and consider being a sponsor or a table captain. Learn more here.

There is no charge for lunch. The suggested minimum event donation is $16.67/month or $200. If you have another way you would like to contribute to Friends of Youth, contact us at devsupport@friendsofyouth.org

Thank you for helping to provide youth, young adults and families the relationship, resources, and skills they need to attain personal growth and success.
