Volunteer Opportunities

  Volunteer Position:
  Change a life by mentoring young refugees and immigrant youth in Renton
  Availability:
 1 to 2 hours a week. Seeking a commitment of at least 6 months.
  Age requirement:
 Must be 25 years or older
  Skills:
 Ability to relate well to youth. Volunteers who are bilingual in English and either Spanish, Arabic,  Turkish or Somali are particularly needed.
 Educational Requirement:
 High school diploma or higher
  Project Details:
Friends of Youth is seeking volunteers to provide mentoring and tutoring support for refugee and immigrant youth in foster care. The youth are boys between the ages of 15-21, often with limited English language proficiency. All of the youth have been separated from their families and are in need of support as they prepare to transition out of foster care. Friends of Youth is seeking individuals who are able to donate approximately 1-2 hours weekly in mentoring and tutoring activities with a youth. Volunteers must complete an orientation and training meeting as well as pass a background check.
