Position Title

    Weekend Relief Staff, New Ground Bothell


    New Ground Bothell has openings for Weekend Relief Staff. Weekend Relief staff are
    responsible for the supervision and support of young adults living in transitional
    housing. The New Ground programs provide a supportive, structured environment for
    young adult women ages 18-21, who are pregnant or parenting a young child.

    This an overnight position: Friday 6pm through Sunday 12pm (noon) (Weekend Relief
    Staff sleep on-site Friday and Saturday evenings), with minimum availability to work
    one weekend per month and one holiday per year.


    A. Supervision of Residents
        1. Support residents in the execution of their Independent Living Plan.
        2. Be available on-site during scheduled weekend hours to supervise residents'
        activities. Walk hallways and grounds periodically (at least once every two hours)
        to ensure safety and compliance with rules.
        3. Assist in any emergency needs or events that may arise.
        4. Record weekend activities and report activities to Resident Manager on Sunday
        5. Plan and participate in recreational activities with residents.
        6. Attend meetings and trainings as required.
        7. When necessary, assist in maintenance needs.
        8. Must inform Program Coordinator if you will be out of reach or out of town.
        9. Must provide and maintain a “best to reach at” e-mail address or phone number
        that is checked a minimum of once per day.
        10. Must respond within one business day to any and all shift availability queries
        from Resident Manager, Program Coordinator or fellow Weekend Relief staff
        11. Must be able to work at least one shift per month.
        12. Must be able to work at least one holiday per calendar year.
        13. If for some reason you are no longer able to work a scheduled shift, it is your
        responsibility to find coverage for that shift, as well as for contacting the Resident
        Manager as soon as you know you will be unable to work.

Required Skills and Qualifications

    A. Education and Experience
        1. High School Diploma.
        2. Must demonstrate sensitivity to homelessness and cultural differences. Must
        like working with teenagers.
        3. Must have valid Washington State driver's license and have own transportation
        with necessary insurance.
        4. Employees and volunteers who operate their own or Friends of Youth vehicles
        on Friends of Youth business must have a safe driving record as defined by
        Friends of Youth. Employees and volunteers who operate their own vehicle(s)
        on Friends of Youth business must carry auto liability insurance that complies
        with the requirements of Friends of Youth.
        5. Experience with infants and toddlers at certain sites.
        6. Female-identifying applicants preferred.

    B. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
        1. An ability to engage with diverse populations in a culturally responsive manner.
        2. Demonstrate a commitment to the values of equity and inclusion by honoring
        and celebrating diverse characteristics and expressions of personal identity.
        3. Ability to develop warm and open relationship while maintaining appropriate
        boundaries with residents.
        4. Ability to observe and discuss behavior problems and suggest appropriate
        5. Must demonstrate sound judgment (in assessing situations).


    This is an overnight position: 6pm Friday through 12 noon Sunday, with availability
    to work one weekend per month, some holidays 6pm-10pm, and occasional
    weekday evening shifts 6pm – 10pm.


     $14 / hour
