Position Title

    P/T Employment Specialist, New Ground Everett

Description

    The New Ground Everett Employment Specialist is responsible for supporting
    access to job opportunities and increasing the employability of homeless young
    adults. The Employment Specialist develops relationships with employers, assists
    clients with job readiness, builds soft skills, performs job searches and assists in
    obtaining and securing internships and employment. In addition, the Employment
    Specialist works to reduce employment barriers by building and maintaining strong
    relationships with employers and acting as a liaison between employers and clients.

Responsibilities

    A. Job Development
        1. Research, identify and conduct outreach to potential employer partners.
        2. Serve as an employment liaison to provide on-going support and first point
        of contact for problem-solving employment concerns with employers.
        3. Be current on employment trends and training.

    B. Employment Support Services
        1. Screen program participants for employment readiness, conduct
        occupational assessments and identify barriers to employment.
        2. Develop educational and employment goal plans with program participants
        and conduct periodic progress reviews.
        3. Provide career exploration and job search support. Assist program
        participants with identifying, applying for, and tracking employment
        opportunities.
        4. Plan, organize and conduct employment skills workshops including resume
        preparation and interviewing skills.
        5. Provide resources and referrals to program participants for job search needs,
        such as interview clothing, transportation, etc.
        6. Provide job coaching and post-employment support.
        7. Provide employment-related resources to the clients such as job fairs,
        internet sites, job postings, short-term training, etc.

    C. Data Collection, Recordkeeping and Reporting
        1. Maintain updated and accurate client files.
        2. Maintain detailed documentation and recordkeeping to meet all contract
        and grant requirements, outcomes, and audits.
        3. Submit reports and billing information to the Program Manager as required by
        contracts and Friends of Youth.

Required Skills and Qualifications

    A. Education and Experience
        1. Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field or 3 years equivalent
        work experience.
        2. Knowledge and prior experience required in job development, job marketing
        and job placement.
        3. Prior experience addressing youth and young adult homelessness issues.
        4. Prior experience with case management preferred.

    B. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
        1. An ability to engage with diverse populations in a culturally responsive
        manner.
        2. Demonstrate a commitment to the values of equity and inclusion by honoring
        and celebrating diverse characteristics and expressions of personal identity.
        3. Must be able to establish rapport with young adults learning new life skills,        
        having experienced traumatic situations including homelessness
        4. Experience working with young adults in alternative settings a plus.
        5. Knowledge pertaining to employment services and opportunities in
        Snohomish County. Demonstrated experience providing evidence-based and
        promising employment practices, including collaboration with mainstream
        employment and education systems such as WorkSource, WorkFirst,
        community-based organizations, government entities, and/or community
        colleges.
        6. Ability to maintain professionalism in controversial, complex and public
        situations.
        7. Excellent interpersonal, writing and organizational skills.
        8. Self-starter with ability to work both independently and on collaborative
        teams.
        9. Computer skills using Windows-based word processing and spreadsheet
        programs.
        10. Employees and volunteers who operate their own or Friends of Youth vehicles
        on Friends of Youth business must have a safe driving record as defined by
        Friends of Youth. Employees and volunteers who operate their own vehicle(s)
        on Friends of Youth business must carry auto liability insurance that complies
        with the standards of Friends of Youth.

Hours

   Part Time: 20 hours / week

Salary

    $18 / hour

    Transitional Living Program Manager for Singles
