Position Title

    Staff Accountant - Grant Invoicing, Budgeting, and Compliance


    The Staff Accountant will process and track documents related to grant contracts,
    budgets, invoicing, reporting, and compliance; perform other general ledger
    accounting; provide information and support the CFO in financial reporting, budget
    development, analyses and forecasts. This position may also assist in accounts
    payable, cash receipts or processing of monthly payroll as needed.


    1. Ensure timely billing to grantors for services rendered as allowed in the contract,
    track aging of receivables, and follow up as necessary for timely payments.
    2. Review annual grant contracts and be familiar with fiscal requirements and
    allowable costs for compliance; keep track of grant renewal dates.
    3. Track budget performance and contract compliance; inform management of
    any findings, including overdue invoices and budget concerns.
    4. Provide monthly budget reports to Program Managers and Directors for their
    grant’s actual expenditures to budget comparison.
    5. Process monthly debit card reports and reconcile to bank statements,
    including coding expenditures.
    6. Respond to requests from auditors and contract monitors by providing
    information requested and ensuring compliance with agency fiscal policy and
    accounting requirements.
    7. Provide grant writers with financial information required for grant proposals.
    8. Process monthly billing to DSHS and payments to foster care parents based
    on monthly client census.
    9. Assist with accounts payable and cash receipts as needed.
    10. Assist in maintaining fixed assets and depreciation monthly.
    11. Reconcile assigned accounts in general ledger.
    12. Work with accounting team to produce timely and accurate financial
    information and reports.
    13. Assist with annual Audit.
    14. Special projects as needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications

    A. Education and Experience

        1. Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Accounting.
        2. One year plus accounting work experience.
        3. Great Plains experience preferred (Outlook, Excel required)
        4. Payroll experience preferred.
        5. Employees and volunteers who operate their own or Friends of Youth vehicles
        on Friends of Youth business must have a safe driving record as defined by
        Friends of Youth. Employees and volunteers who operate their own vehicle(s)
        on Friends of Youth business must carry auto liability insurance that complies
        with the requirements of Friends of Youth.

    B. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

        1. An ability to engage with diverse populations in a culturally responsive
        2. Demonstrate a commitment to the values of equity and inclusion by honoring
        and celebrating diverse characteristics and expressions of personal identity.
        3. Knowledge of GAAP.
        4. Knowledge of County and Federal HHS/HUD grant guidelines preferred.
        5. Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills.
        6. PC skills.
        7. Excellent communication skills.


    Full Time - 40 hours per week


    $23 - 24 / hour DOE
