In the spring of 1996, Friends of Youth was awarded accreditation by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children, the most widely respected accreditation agency for services for families and children in the United States. As such, we are one of just a handful of nationally accredited organizations in the state of Washington.
Accreditation works as a seal of approval that acknowledges that the agency holds itself to the highest standards for professional and administrative performance. It gives the assurance to clients, the public, funding bodies, governmental agencies, other professionals in the community, and agency volunteers that the agency meets rigorous standards, including:
- Effective management
- Fiscal responsibility
- Fulfillment of community needs
- Monitoring and evaluation of service quality
- Qualified personnel
- Safe, accessible facilities
Those benefiting most from our accreditation are the families and individuals we serve. By striving to meet the standards by which the field defines quality service, Friends of Youth not only assures its clients it is doing the best possible job, it continually reviews and refines its operations. Beyond this, all parties – including donors and volunteers – benefit from the intensive, objective appraisal of our work by knowledgeable colleagues.
